Owner - Consulting Forester
I grew up in central Wisconsin and studied Forestry Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I focused on GIS and remote sensing. My career spans work with the Minnesota DNR Division of Forestry, the U.S. Forest Service, private tree service work, food services, and general construction. I am a Candidate Certified Forester through SAF, an American Tree Farm Inspector, and a certified Minnesota Stewardship Plan Writer. My qualifications stretch across forest management, equipment operation, wildfire assignments across the U.S. and Canada, timber appraisal, forest inventory, invasive species control, lease oversight, sale administration, site prep, and tree planting.
Today, I bring those skills together through Erdmann Forestry & Land Services as part of Holzfaller, LLC, offering a level of practical experience and long-term guidance that most landowners seek. Whether it’s designing a stewardship plan, marking timber, navigating cost-share programs, managing a harvest, building trails, or creating maps and long-term strategies, my work is centered around helping landowners clarify their goals and achieve them—no matter the size of their property or the complexity of their vision. I also operate Rainy River Sawmill and provide construction and handyman services, which allows me to help landowners turn underutilized wood and byproducts into something meaningful and useful.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my honesty, transparency, and communication from day one. My approach is simple: listen first, understand the story behind the land, and create a plan that respects both the owner’s goals and the landscape itself. For some, it’s about investment and timber value; for others, it’s about memories, heritage, and the future of their family land. My mission is to simplify the decisions, strategize clearly, and execute a game plan that leaves both the land and the landowner better off than when we started. As Rabindranath Tagore said, “The one who plants trees knowing that he or she will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.”
